Steering Shield

From Citroen SM Wiki

There's a small sheet of metal in the engine compartment, just next to the brake pedal rubber bulb (30 cm below the steering column).

Its purpose is to protect the brake pedal rubber bulb from HEAT.

It is covered on both sides with asbestos, and was ONLY fitted in USA-models, but is strongly reccomended to be fitted to all cars as the exhaust manifold makes the rubber pipe brittle.

The shield for the steering is part 5423374, for the engine compartment brake pipe assembly shield it is 5420083.
