Curved Fixed Limiter -

MkII v2.4 Solid MDS Nylon Curved Fixed Limiter (CFL) for the Maserati C114 2.7 and 3.0 V6 Engine Primary Chain

Using geometry developed by the late Andrew Brodie in collaboration with Renold PLC this curved limiter provides quieter operation, longer chain service life, and greatly extends the life of the limiter itself.

The position of the limiter also eliminates the possibility of motion causing the chain to strike or break a flat snubber due to "chain whip" (standing wave formed in a stretched, tensionless chain).

The fitment of a curved limiter dramatically reduces (chordal) vibration that contributes to wear of the primary chain.

The reduction in vibration (oscillating movement) reduces wear of the primary chain and the reduced wear dramatically increases chain service life.

Machined from solid stress-relieved, normalized plastic enriched with a low friction component this limiter provides an extremely low-friction contact surface for chain travel.

The material is compatible with traditional or synthetic lubricants. In combination the lubricant and enriched surface provide an ultra-low friction contact face that has high durability while subjecting chain side plates to very low wear.

Installation of this limiter requires an oiling modification. The OOTFAB oiling modification is performed on the primary chain cover oil passage, requires no modification of the engine block and is described --> here. <--

The limiter includes new mounting hardware (grade 10 M6-1.0 bolts and 318 stainless steel flat washers).

Tensioner Blade

Using the same primary curvature as the original tensioner blade this replacement is compatible with the Mk II (mouse trap) tensioner implementation. The length of the blade has been extended to increase the contact surface in later stages of chain life.

This moving limiter blade is machined from solid stress-relieved plastic enriched with a low-friction component.

As with the curved fixed limiter the material is compatible with traditional or synthetic lubricants.

In combination the lubricant and enriched surface provide an ultra-low friction contact face that has high durability while subjecting chain side plates to very low wear.

Installation of this limiter requires an oiling modification. The OOTFAB oiling modification is performed on the primary chain cover oil passage, requires no modification of the engine block and is described here.


MkII v2.2 Solid MDS Nylon Tensioner Replacement Blade for Series 2 (MkII) tensioner arrangement. A Series 1 version is in development.

Mk 2.2 Tensioner Blade

Prototype


The blade includes mounting hardware (318 stainless washers for thrust, heavy-wall aluminum pivot bushing). A replacement grade 8 pivot bolt is available upon request.

Installation of this limiter requires an oiling modification. The OOTFAB oiling modification is described here.

Installation requires removal of the rubber buffer on the mechanical tensioner. The boss on the rear of the blade replaces the buffer.
